The final race of the 2022 Fight the Night series saw another strong field taking to the streets of Lincoln Central, as orienteers competed for the various ‘silverware’ up for grabs on the night, including the top 9 runners in the prestigious cup final. As the dust settled on some fantastic racing, Liam Harrington took his first podium of the series, scoring an impressive 190 points. Previous week’s winner, Paul Murgatroyd, also joined him on the same score, but was just over 20 seconds slower, with week one’s winner, Philip-Johnston Davis (180 points) returning to the podium narrowly behind these two in third place.
And so, onto the key duels for the Cup final, age handicapped as usual… Paul Murgatroyd managed to secure the premier title, holding off previous champion, Anne Gibbs by only two points, with Pete Harris, a strong contender across the series, finishing off the podium places in third. Philip Johnston-Davis secured the Trophy win, David Hunter took the Plate award and Marcus Lancastle grabbed the Vase prize. Handicap results from the evening’s race can be viewed here. The final series table, showing all the results from last night’s finals can be found here.
We hope everyone enjoyed their FtN experience and we look forward to seeing everyone at the Spring Series, starting on Thursday 31st March at South Common!
