Fight the Night Series 2024 – Report & Results

Mon 5th Feb saw the kick start of this season’s FtN, with over 60 runners taking to the streets of Lincoln South, competing solo or as teams. The Lincs Runner provided a great central venue and many from the usual weekly Shop Run came and joined in the fun. On the night, Paul Murgatroyd (180pts) just edged out the trio of Marcus Lancastle, David Jolly and Philip-Jonhston-Davis (all 170 points) in second to fourth places respectively. The prize for the leading performance by a ‘non-orienteer’ on the night went to the team of Mike Love and James Malachy Mills, who scored an impressive 160 points and was enough to secure them 7th place overall.

Once the age handicaps were applied, Amanda Roberts leapt to the top of the table, with Paul Murgatroyd in second and Anne Gibbs in third. Seven runners claimed over 200 points and the qualifying rounds are going to be a close-run affair over the coming weeks.

All the results from the night can be seen here, with the handicap results here and the overall ‘World cup’ series qualifying tables here.

Next week we move to Birchwood & Doddington for the second race of the series and entries are open on SiEntries (closing date – Monday 12th Feb) with all the details on the respective event pages.
