Lincs Urban League – Report and Tables: Event 5

This week’s sixth and final race in the 2024 LUL was an entertaining affair at the University of Lincoln, with LOG Chairman, Craig Lucas, in the planner’s hot-seat. The unusual Prologue and Mass Start Chase added to the usual LUL fun and the Chase, in particular, saw great use of the complex courts area with some great head-to-head competition on display.

On the Long course, HALO’s George Van Dam, in a rare appearance in the LUL, took the honours, winning both the Prologue and the Chase courses. Liam Harrington had his best result of the series by coming home in second and RAF man, Richard Crabb, sealed the final podium spot. Hannah Mather was first woman back and, in doing so, secured the Women’s Long trophy. Paulius Malkevicius comfortably sealed the win on the Medium course, with Anna Kaisa-Koskela Brook taking second, and Pete Harris easing into third spot on the night. Jacqui Edwards held off the challenge of Amanda Mylett to seize the Women’s Medium crown by just two points. On the Short course, Mary Vickers continued her winning ways. Finally, HALO took their first away win of the series, but couldn’t do enough to turn over the 18 point LOG lead, and so LOG retain the inter-club trophy for another year. The Lincs Challenge Shield also saw LOG victorious by a comfortable margin on the night, with 1085pts to 834pts. The overall final table after all six rounds can be seen here.

Congratulations to this year’s roll call of individual winners:
Men’s Long – Paul Murgatroyd
Women’s Long – Hannah Mather
Men’s Medium – Paulius Malkevicius
Women’s Medium – Jacqui Edwards
Short – Mary Vickers
